Always drawn to complexity and momentum. From shaping long-term strategy to navigating critical transitions and high-stakes situations. Over the past years, I have operated across sectors and organisations where societal impact, financial performance and stakeholder interests come together – giving me a broad, multi-perspective view on leadership and change.
Organisations are approached with clarity, energy and a strong sense of direction — translating ambition into strategy, and strategy into execution. Known for the ability to quickly grasp the essence of complex situations, challenge the status quo and bring focus where needed.
Combining a strategic mindset with a pragmatic, results-driven approach. Constructive in style, but clear and decisive when it matters. Focused on building alignment, mobilising teams and ensuring progress. Most at home in environments where business, society and governance intersect, where leadership requires both vision and the ability to deliver tangible results.
Vincent Verkoelen (1978) is a strategic leader with a broad perspective on business, governance and organisational transformation. He connects across sectors and stakeholders — internally and externally — and operates comfortably in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
With a strong focus on direction and results, he translates experience in strategy, leadership and transformation into clear choices, coherent strategies and effective execution. Known for his energy and ability to align people, he brings focus and momentum where it matters.
Vincent has a solid financial foundation, which underpins his strategic decision-making and performance-driven approach.
In his most recent role as Director of Strategy & Policy at Haag Wonen, one of the larger social housing corporations in the Netherlands, he was responsible for translating long-term ambitions into a coherent multi-year strategy and driving organisational change in the context of a national housing shortage, energy transition and increasing societal pressure.
Throughout his career, Vincent has taken on leadership roles in situations that required direction, renewal and decisiveness. As acting Managing Director of the Amsterdam anti-discrimination office, he stepped in during a period of organisational crisis, rebuilt the organisation, strengthened its positioning and significantly expanded its reach and impact.
Earlier, as Managing Director of the Museum of the Canals in Amsterdam, he developed and executed a strategy that positioned the organisation as a distinctive cultural destination and successful commercial venue.
Vincent started his career in international corporate finance, working in sustainable development as the right-hand man of the global head of SD at ABN AMRO, as well as in financial consultancy being involved in strategic advisory and investor engagement around impact investing.
He combines a strong financial and strategic foundation with a sharp understanding of governance and stakeholder dynamics. Vincent is known for his analytical strength, political sensitivity and ability to connect people and interests — while maintaining focus on results and long-term value creation. His background includes early leadership in political organisations and participation in international programmes such as the International Visitor Leadership Program of the U.S. State Department.
He holds a Master’s degree in Finance (MSc) and a degree in Business Administration (drs.) from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
